Constructed from the same material as the jacket, the pants provide protection from harsh winter conditions, whilst providing essential features for alpine climbing. With athletic tailoring, including stretch waist panels, they provide excellent articulation in high step movements without excess fabric. Reinforced panels on the knees, seat and in-step enhance durability, whilst features such as the drop seat, integrated snow gaiter, calf adjustment to reduce volume and heat loss around boots, and removable braces, allow for a highly versatile garment that can be easily layered over an additional insulation layer such as the Montane Flux Pants. Weighing in at 657g, they are light enough for fast movement in cold conditions but with enough protection for suitability at high altitude.

DMM Fly Ice Axe (with Raptor or Fly picks)

Usage - Climbing, Safety

A highly versatile tool that is apt on classical mountaineering through to technical alpine terrain. The aggressive drop pick from the Fly provides security in steep neve and ice, whilst the adze helps with cutting steps and ledges. The gently curved shaft provides some hand clearance whilst swing but does not compromise the ability to dagger on steeper terrain and the hand rest can be removed. DMM Prophet 8.5mm Rope (50m)

Usage - Safety

The choice of rope is essential for this type of objective. It needs to be lightweight but tough enough to take abuse in all conditions. The DMM Prophet rope is just that, being ‘Pro’ tested to withstand water absorption and icing, and the ‘Core’ treatment makes it supple to handle. We choose to use a half rope instead of a single rope as we will be moving together over fairly straightforward mixed terrain, rather than technical pitched climbing.
